How To Stay Focused and Faithful

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2nd Timothy 1:7)

Praise the Lord, today the world is faced with perilous times, fear and confusion rule the day. Christians are finding themselves caught in a dilemma, many are feeling the same way as the world, dazed, confused, and finding it hard to hold on to their faith.

The Bible tells us in Romans 8:35-37 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."

The Bible tells us that that we are “more than conquerors,” but many of us are not feeling like overcomers right now.

Despite what is going on right now as we enter these last days, there are things that we as Believers can do to stay strong and stay focused on God and hold on to our faith.

First, we must increase our time spent in God’s presence. When we get up in the morning make time to spend with Him in prayer and devotion. Start your day off right. Also, end it right too by doing the same thing before going to bed.

The Bible also tells us “not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together…” (Hebrews 10:24-25) but, this is not always possible in these Covid times. But you can set up virtual bible studies or prayer meetings with family and friends as a way of fellowshipping with your fellow saints. God will meet you where you are at.

In this time where many of us are feeling isolated due to lockdowns and social distancing we need to remember that we are not the only ones experiencing these feelings. This is a good time to reach out to our neighbors, and to the elderly and disabled in our orbits. Call them if you can, and when you can’t, put on your mask and go knock on some doors and share the love and concern of Christ. You do not have to go inside, just showing up will be appreciated.

Even in these last and evil days we can not live in fear, God tells us in His word that “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2nd Timothy 1:7) How do you maintain a sound mind some may be asking? We can do this by doing all the things mentioned above, memorizing all the promises of God listed in the Bible. Keep ourselves busy doing the work of ministry, trying not to grow weary in well doing by remembering that “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” This promise is found in Philippians 4:13.

These are the things God has given us to hold on to, to keep us strong and focused no matter what problems and stress the World may send our way. Always remember that we “walk by faith, not by sight” (2nd Corinthians 5:7)

God bless you all.
